“Our environment is part of us. How we care for our environment and live with it, utilize and enjoy it, determines the kind of people we are and will be.”

Frequently Asked Questions
.
Are your faculty available to serve as guest speakers or to teach workshops at conferences?
Yes. Please contact us. We want to reach as many people as possible and we enjoy meeting and collaborating with people who share in our mission.
How do I schedule ESI to offer a program through my organization?
Contact us. We welcome the invitation. We will send you a short list of questions and use your responses to determine how best we can work together.
You make reference to “environmental conservation” and “sustainable development.” Aren’t they the same thing? OR Aren’t they in opposition?
“There can be no long-term economic or social development on a depleted planet. Education to develop widespread understanding of the interdependence and fragility of planetary life support systems and the natural resource base upon human well-being depends lies at the core of education for sustainable development.” UNESCO

We use the terms “environmental conservation” and “sustainable development” to emphasis our belief that sustainable development can only be achieved in concert with environmental protection and that environmental protection requires an understanding and integration of the human-components of the earth system. Environmental conservation, in our perspective, includes the protection of biodiversity. For more information visit the U.N. Decade on Education for Sustainable Development.
I noticed that several of your trainers are certified in Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP). What is NLP?
NLP has its roots in the academic study of neurolinguistics – the study of the relationship between language and the brain. This fact not only explains the basis of the field, but also why it has such a mouthful of a name! Whereas neurolinguistics merely took a “heady” approach, NLP addresses the human communication system – how we deliver and respond to communication through verbal and body language. The practical applications of NLP – such as leadership development, education, training, team building, conflict resolution, presentation skills, and personal capacity building - have drawn the interest of professionals from numerous disciplines. Thus, NLP institutes now exist throughout the world, serving anyone who wants to be a more effective communicator. ESI and its faculty are world leaders in the application of NLP to environmental conservation and sustainable development.  In 2004, ESI's President, Dr. Jamie K. Reaser, received the NLP World Community Award for her contributions to environmental conservation.
